I want to tell you why Access Trip was born.

In 2005, I was living here on the beautiful island of Cozumel with my husband and our little son.

We had to temporarily move to Mexico City because basic services had collapsed due to the hurricane.

During our stay there, we were in a car accident.

I lost my husband.

I lost my son.

I was left fighting for my life.

I survived… but I was left with a mobility disability.

The doctors said I would never walk again.

I cried, I fought, I fell, I got back up.

I could have given up.

But I decided to keep living.

Now I move around, work, scuba dive, go to restaurants and museums, I’m independent, and…

I LOVE TRAVELING!

I learned that life doesn’t end because of a disability… but it can be more challenging because of the barriers in the world.

I know what it’s like to arrive somewhere and find no access.

That’s why Access Trip was created, together with my NGO, Avanza Accesible.

So that no one has to feel fear, frustration, or limitation while traveling.
